DESCRIPTION:This is the first time that the SVARC is participating in Winter Field Day! \n\nPlease feel free to drop in to the Monroe EOC any time after 0800 on Saturday\, January 25th. Access to the Monroe EOC is complicated by ongoing construction at Monroe City Hall\, so we should be able to access the EOC and the radio room through the gate on Village Way\, across from the Monroe Library or the Monroe Senior Center. \nErnie W7EDA and Jim KK7PEY are the contacts for this event. \nBlurb from the Winter Field Day website: \n\nWinter Field Day is an exciting annual event for amateur radio enthusiasts\, taking place on the last full weekend of January. It offers a unique opportunity for radio operators to set up field operations in remote locations\, enabling them to connect with other participants worldwide. You may choose to participate solo or get your your friends\, family\, or whole club involved. Winter Field Day is organized by the Winter Field Day Association. The association strongly believes that ham radio operators should practice portable emergency communications in winter environments. This is because freezing temperatures\, snow\, ice\, and other hazards pose unique operational concerns. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Winter Field Day event aims to help participants improve their preparedness for disasters and enhance their operational abilities in adverse conditions. Amateur radio operators have the freedom to use frequencies on the HF\, VHF\, or UHF bands while employing voice\, CW\, and digital transmissions. The event designates specific objectives to encourage a diverse range of activities\, including the use of non-commercial power sources\, the deployment of multiple antennas\, establishing satellite contacts\, and more. SUMMARY:Plain 100 Ultra Marathon 2023
DESCRIPTION:The official name of this race is The Plain100+ Mile Endurance Run (David M. Smith Memorial 1953-2011) in honor of Dave\, a Search and Rescue team (SAR) member who was with the race from the beginning until his death in 2011. The Plain 100 is a challenging 100+ mile ultra marathon (even by ultra standards) over trails in the mountains near Lake Wenatchee and Plain\, Washington. The course contains more than 21\,000 feet of elevation gain/loss with no support for the runners. The race details can be found at http://www.plain100.com/.
